I Love Presets is a Chicago-based experimental sound and new media project, composed of artists Jon Satrom, Rob Ray, and Jason Soliday. They manipulate found sounds and animated GIFs on home-brewed equipment in spectacular real-time audiovisual performances. Through datamoshing, glitch processing, and even downloading viruses, I <3 Presets act out a deconstruction of the digital interface. Settings normally accepted as fixed and stable are hijacked, and anything electronic is fair game for their exploitation, from Excel spreadsheets to video games and drum machines. This special event will feature an I <3 Presets performance of several new pieces and an interactive data-bending workshop in which the artists will demo their unique hacking techniques and art-making processes.
